Fans of “Toon” monsters and Pegasus rejoice! After nearly a decade, Doppleganger is finally making its debut in the OCG!
If you control “Toon World” and a Toon monster: target 1 card in your opponent’s graveyard; if it is a monster, Special Summon it to your side of the field. If it is a Spell/Trap, set it to your side of the field. You can only activate 1 “Doppleganger” per turn.
First off, notice how it is restricted to Toon decks. I am going to assume this is to prevent every deck from running 2-3, and causing shenanigans. Furthermore, being restricted to Toon decks also keeps Doppleganger from being on the Forbidden List any time soon. Second, this card allows the user to quickly make a comeback. Since there isn’t any restriction to what can be targeted, the user can take the adversary’s Raigeki or any monster in their graveyard. Finally, Toon decks can efficiently utilize Doppleganger thanks to Toon Kingdom being treated as a Field spell version of “Toon World“.
I personally think the restrictions on Doppleganger are pretty fair. Anyone have another opinion? Post them below!
